Biblins Training Weekend

For those of you who have not been before this is one of the club's main training events and a well attended social event. Depending on interest we can run Paddle Power, 1*, 2*, 3* and improver's training in kayaks and open boats to cover the BCU syllabus. 1* courses can include assessment and there will be the opportunity for those who have done some 2* training before to do a BCU 2* assessment (includes open boat and kayak skills). We can also on request provide Foundation Safety and Rescue (FSRT) training and assessment. We camp at the youth site by the Wye and evenings are spent socialising around a camp fire. As per last year we be running a throw line Olympics competition on the Saturday evening so get practicing!

It would be useful to check the course structure on the website to check which level course you would benefit from. Don't forget your logbooks, these can be printed and filled out during the weekend to record your progress.

PLEASE let us know which courses you are interested in by posting on the forum or e-mailing James, when responding please also indicate if your require boat hire.

We also need to know who is available to coach and help on courses!

Biblins costs (Last years - might be slightly different this year.):
camping £3.50 per child, £6.00 per adult per night (includes launching)
day rate £3.50 per person (includes launching)
extended use £1.50 per person to use facilities after noon (on last day)
car parking £2.00 per vehicle per day

SACC costs:
Training courses £10.00 per person per weekend
Boat hire £5 - Either the open boat trailer or kayak trailer can be brought depending on which boats are needed.

PLEASE NOTE - NO CARAVANS, CAMPERVANS OR ALCOHOL (same as in previous years)

Tuesday Night Sessions

Club Tuesday night summer sessions are now under way, why not come along and have a go? Everyone welcome and all the kit provided for a small fee. There's no need to book, just come along and have a go.

All you need is a set of clothes and shoes you don't mind getting wet. If it's not a warm day bring a waterproof coat with you too. *Don't forget a towel and some dry clothes for afterwards.

During the summer months we meet on a weekly basis at various locations in the surrounding Bristol area. Have a look at our club programme to see where we will be next week.

This year we are running a set of training sessions aimed at achieving the BCU 2* certificate for those interested. Why not ask a committee member or coach for more information?

A change to the club trailer this year sees a bigger selection of boats available to hire, including sea kayaks, open boats, river boats and a Slalom Kayak!
